But adoption and production are not the same thing. Only 31% of enterprises actually have an agent running in production. Banking and insurance lead at 47%; healthcare and government trail at 18% and 14%. Zoom out further and the number gets starker: 79% of enterprises say they've adopted AI agents, but only 11% run them in production.
The gap has a name: integration. 46% of respondents cite integration with existing systems as their primary blocker. The hard part of shipping an agent was never making it smart. It's giving it secure, reliable access to the systems it actually needs to touch. And increasingly, procurement teams won't sign off without an answer to a second question: can you prove what it did? Immutable audit trails are now a hard requirement before production sign-off, and 60% of firms with agents already in production still lack formal governance around them.
